Discover with Dr. Cool Insect Excavation Kit


 My 9 year old son loves bugs. He also loves to learn. That's why I love Discover with Dr. Cool activity kits. We tried out the Real Insect Excavation Kit. The kit comes with a beetle-shaped digging block, which houses 3 bugs, a scorpion, a spiny spider and a fortune beetle, preserved in acrylic. The kit includes an excavation took, brush, and magnifying glass. There is also a full-color information guide that teaches you all about insects, arthropods and arachnids. It's full of cool science facts about each of the bugs in the kit as well as more general bug facts that your kid(s) will love. It also comes with a fun activity booklet with 10 games, mazes and puzzles. It also won the Brain Toy Hold Award- Academic's Choice for 2013.

My son and I had so much fun with this kit. Excavating the beetle was so much fun. The tools were easy to use, and the magnifying glass made examining the excavated bugs fun. The only downside from my perspective is that all the bugs were grouped in the same area of the beetle digging block. After we excavated the bugs we enjoyed learning the facts about the bugs from the information guide. Discover with Dr. Cool makes a lot of great kits, including geode kits, fossil kits and other excavation kits. You can check them all out on their website. I recommend them for kids who love exploring and learning. They also would make great gifts.

ASUS and my fight for them to be honorable

This blog is about my fight with ASUS computer company to get them to honor my warranty and replace my laptop. If anyone wants to share this page on the ASUS facebook page i would appreciate it. It also would be great if people could please go to this tweet and re-tweet it. The story In February of 2013 I purchased an ASUS brand laptop. The salesman highly recommended the brand, and it had several features i was looking for, including windows 8. $400 later, i left the store with a new laptop for school and a happy spirit. Flash forward ONE MONTH, and i started having an issue with the laptop. The sound would stop working, both on files and online. After contacting both geek squad and ASUS, they determined that i had gotten a virus in the audio software. I uninstalled the software, ran a comprehensive virus cleanup, purchased a new "better" anti-virus program the ASUS tech recommended and re-installed the audio drivers. Why i stayed...

In light of the recent video that has come to light showing ex-ravens player Ray Rice knocking then fiance, current wife Janay Palmer unconscious in a elevator, i have seen a lot of people asking "why did she still marry him?" and "why do woman stay with men that beat them?" I'd like to take a moment to offer some insight, as a survivor of domestic violence myself. The day i was married, sept 2nd of 2005, 8 months pregnant and so naive, is the day my ex-husband first hit me. One of my male family members had said something incredibly rude to him, which caused us to argue after the wedding and reception. I made the "mistake" of defending that while my uncle was wrong, he said what he said because he loved me. I didn't even see it coming when he backhanded me. I locked myself in the bathroom, holding my stomach, thinking of my son, and sobbing. But he apologized...he was stressed, hurt by what had been said to him, and so sorry. He worked hard
